The Priest Darius Marcinkevičius.

Lord, you are able to see what kind of mark and honor you have given.

I am grateful that this year we have the opportunity to gather together in the Holy Bible group with the worshippers of The Living Rosary in St. Archangel Raphael Parish in Vilnius every Sunday 3 p.m. To have a communion in which we deepen our understanding in the Word of God in response to Pope Francis’ invitation. The Holy Father Francis proclaimed in Rome, near St. John Lateran, on 30th September 2019, that the third ordinary Sunday of the liturgical year would be dedicated for celebrating, pondering, and nurturing the word of God. For the community of the parish it is important to hear pronouncement of Living Word of God. The Word of God heard through event of St. Mass, reading, gospel, psalm, we highlight, purify, by sharing in the Holy Bible group what touches us and what we are experiencing. We have been successfully exploring, we have started with Job’s book. It is that question – unconditional faith, faith in God, coming to church, and it is probably impossible to comprehend the reason behind coming, without understanding what unites us all – it is the Living Word of God that we receive in St. Eucharist, this is Jesus himself. To understand Jesus, we must go deeper into the Word of God. In the parish Holy Bible group, we will not become all specialists of Biblical knowledge, but we can share the Word of God by praying for each other, we can experience a spirit of communion in which we can deepen our knowledge.

Reading of Holy Bible has certain rules and recommendations. As we read the passage of Holy Bible and try to experience the communion, we use methods: 1. Lectio divina – attentive reading, 2. Meditatio – what God speaks to me, 3. Oratio – to be in a willful choice, 4. Contemplatio – to be with God.

I am very pleased that in the Holy Bible group we are not only deepening in the Word of God, but we are trying to understand the importance of the church tradition and also the very important questions of faith, morality that people face, which we are not afraid to raise to the daylight and simply to try seeing, what Jesus would answer on one or another question, which is very relevant today, to the man who lives in today’s world, for every one of us. And this is such a living response to the birth of communion, i.e. the presence of communion and community, because every community is a communion, i.e. not only the Eucharist, which is the center and the foundation for everything, but also the gathering for sharing the Word of God, it is a very strong experience, which is a very powerful grace of God for each of us. We pray that we should continue having it for as long as possible and we could meet.

Reading Holy Bible encourages the worshippers of the Living Rosary, even the elderly ones, who have begun to visit the Holy Bible group, to be interested, to acquire, and read Holy Bible. This is an event where Pope Francis’ thoughts are materializing. Often in the practice of faith, it is assumed that if I have a prayer book, Rosary, I will reach salvation. It is wonderful when a person who have received a life licensee and many of Job’s dramas, had went through and memorized these events not by reading Holy Bible, but through his personal life, shares these insights in a group setting, by reading Holy Bible and sometimes understand it better than the priest. As we read the Word of God in a group, we try not only to understand it in our minds, even though this is too complicated because we are limited creations of God, but we try to understand it with our hearts. It’s a more accessible language than a mind. It is very important to lead life according to Holy Bible, so that every Word would become the Body. That the word „forgiveness”, the word „love”, the word „perception”, the word „understanding”, and any word taken in the Holy Bible would bring the Good News. For the Word of God to ignite us, not allowing to immerse in even greater despair or disappointment. Let us be armored with the sword of the Word of God. So that the sword would not kill us, but lift us out of our sins, from our weakness, fragility. Let us be together, discover the Living Word, love the Word of God, and live in Him.
